These women singers and their words!
I’m touched by their heartbreak. Their emotions run
deep and purple, deeper than the
bluesmen who sound sad about lost love but aggressive
Their sincerity comes from a deeper more personal space; a
darker spot within their hearts, emotions akin to the
loss of a child. Deep sadness confined within
a shattered crystal vessel full of dull grey smoke. Smoke that
leaks through the cracks of the glass, twists its way through the
heart of the singer then into the
heart of the world.
Their songs are beautiful and melancholy,
meant to be shared with other women who
understand the heartache and
men who can only stare through the smoke filled glass and
wonder what the enchantment means.
Their music was a revelation to me.
A look into another world, a world of intense, deep and often
quiet passion and pain.
My vision was twice distorted though, first
through the cracked crystal glass then,
through tears ..
